BIOGRAPHY
As a third-generation Nevadan, Alex grew up in the Las Vegas Valley and attended high school in the heart of downtown where she experienced a unique microcosm of urbanism while residing in “the entertainment capital of the world.”
At 17, she moved across the country after accepting a soccer scholarship to attend the University of Louisiana at Monroe, where she experienced a vibrant and vastly different cross section of American life. After graduating with degrees in Political Science and Criminal Justice, Alex began preparing to move back to the west coast but decided against her original plan and chose to stay in the rural southern town she fell in love with as a freshman in college.
Immersed in the university and the local community, Alex accepted a graduate assistantship while pursuing her MBA and MPA and worked with university professors on a Delta Regional Authority (DRA) grant program providing professional development for community leaders throughout the Mississippi River Delta region. In early 2016, Alex moved to Washington, DC, after accepting a full-time position with DRA. In this role, she assisted the agency with the development of federal programs and interagency initiatives designed to enhance economic opportunity in underserved areas of the eight-state Delta region. At DRA, Alex focused her efforts on establishing public-private partnerships, supporting workforce training, fostering place-based development, and capacity building for state and local elected officials.
After designing and implementing the Delta Creative Placemaking Initiative, Alex was inspired and ready to tackle a new challenge, so she joined Zack and Bethany at McClure Engineering Co. to continue her placemaking work in the Delta region. Alex still resides in Washington, DC, with her well-traveled dog, Bella. Alex loves exploring new places and meeting new people, enjoys reading, playing soccer, and cooking, and can be found cheering for her favorite sports teams throughout the year – the Vegas Golden Knights, the New Orleans Saints, and the Washington Nationals.
